What I took away from KSES

By Lydia - 1 week intern

I spent a week at Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary as part of filming my wildlife documentary, and it ended up being one of the most memorable parts of my time in Thailand. What stood out most wasn’t just the elephants, but the people I met.

One of the highlights was spending time talking with one of the elephant owners and a mahout. Hearing about their lives, their relationship with the elephants, and the challenges they face gave me a perspective I could never have got without visiting Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary. It was really meaningful to hear their stories firsthand and understand their experiences more deeply.

Of course, being able to spend time with the elephants in the forest was unforgettable, but it was the people and the sense of community that I’ll remember most. I’m so grateful to everyone at KSES for their kindness, knowledge and for sharing their stories with me. It was an experience I’ll carry with me long after I leave Thailand.
