Learning Together
By Mila - 1 week intern
Hi readers!!
For my mini-blog, I (an intern) would like to share a moment that really stuck with me the most!
On Tuesday, the planning included an English lesson. We were going to assist Kanda, one of employees of KSES, in teaching the local children English. It was a weekly lesson that was not mandatory, but all the girls in the village showed up!! They all showed up in neat shirts, with notebooks and pens. What amazed me the most was that they were super eager to learn, repeating all words we read of the board to work on their pronunciation.
After introducing some new words, we implemented them in games: simon says and a dance. The girls were super competitive, picking up the words super fast. It was lovely to see them have so much fun because of a game you were introducing to them.
At the end of the lesson there was some free time to play games. We played uno with some of the girls. It was so much fun to successfully play a game with limited verbal communication. The girls were so thankful for our input, and it made me feel like I contributed to the community. It felt super special :)
